Luke 8:11-15


Luk 8:11  "Now the parable is this: The seed is the word of God.

Luk 8:12  Those by the wayside are the ones who hear; then the devil comes and takes away the word out of their hearts, lest they should believe and be saved.

Luk 8:13  But the ones on the rock are those who, when they hear, receive the word with joy; and these have no root, who believe for a while and in time of temptation fall away.

Luk 8:14  Now the ones that fell among thorns are those who, when they have heard, go out and are choked with cares, riches, and pleasures of life, and bring no fruit to maturity.

Luk 8:15  But the ones that fell on the good ground are those who, having heard the word with a noble and good heart, keep it and bear fruit with patience.

                Honestly for me I can say that I have struggled with these other types of seeds. In particular the seed that fell on the rock and had no roots. It's the "camp high" seed. Being on fire for a short amount of time and then when temptation comes in the smallest form, I don't have the strength to resist because when a seed that grew on the rock, is purely emotional. My emotions get spiked and I'm super passionate about God. But when my emotions are down then when temptation comes, the emotions aren’t enough to keep me planted. But I'm thankful that I can now say I'm planted on good ground. All glory be to God.

                For my application, I'm going to pray with a guy for his struggles and for mine. Struggles with our seed not being in good soil. Being choked out, or having no roots.

    1Ti 3:16   Beyond all question, the mystery from which true godliness springs is great: He appeared in the flesh, was vindicated by the Spirit, was seen by angels, was preached among the nations, was believed on in the world, was taken up in glory.                     I was spending time thinking about what I means to be "vindicated be the Spirit" this word took my attention and I proceeded to look it up. In the Webster's dictionary it says literally this. " To prove or to be just or valid."   The Spirit proved that Jesus He is just and valid. This was an interesting note to me. But what is the mystery? The mystery to me is this, If Jesus did this in godliness, how do you become godly? All throughout 1 Timothy chapter 3 it talks about the qualifications of bishops and deacons. It lists practical things like "don't be given over to much wine" and "speak with integrity". But the root of all these things is godliness.
